Let's break down both the opening day sales of Microsoft’s Xbox One and PS4. Microsoft said that their Xbox One shipped 1 million consoles in the first 24 hours. However Microsoft also acknowledged problems and defects with their console particularly the disc drive. It was reported on social media that user are experiencing grinding noise in the disc drive of the unit every time they insert a disc.
“We’re working directly with those affected to get a replacement console to them as soon as possible through our advance exchange program,” Microsoft said in a statement. “Customers have the option for us to send a replacement console right away without waiting until they have returned their old one. This means a customer only has to wait a matter of days, rather than weeks to get back up and running.”
Microsoft said that its Xbox One sold 1 million units in its first 24 hours on sale, it's their largest ever. The console is also sold out in a number of locations. PlayStation 4, which was launched a week ahead also reported 1 million in sales in the first 24 hours.
