The new 2014 Toyota Corolla
Toyota shows off the 2014 Toyota Corolla with new contemporary style. They have also increased the wheelbase by four inch to improve the ride.
They said that the 2014 Toyota Corolla is expected to have a highway fuel economy on the far side of the 40-mpg barrier with its better aerodynamics design and mechanical improvements including a new continuously variable transmission (CVT).
Edmunds.com data shows that the Corolla, is the best-selling compact car in the United States.
The new Corolla will have four trims: L, LE, S and a new LE Eco trim. They are all powered by a 132 horsepower, 1.8-liter four cylinder engine matched with the CVT, which uses a state of the art software that mimic the feel of a conventional transmission with seven separate ratios.
“deliver a more dynamic driving experience with software tuning that alters shift points, creating transmission behavior during acceleration that enhances the sporty character of the S-grade”, Toyota said.
The six-speed manual will be available on base L and sporty S models. A new midlevel LE Eco model gets a 140-hp 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine, low rolling resistance tires, and other mpg boosting tricks to deliver that 40-mpg plus on the highway.
The interior of the car has a soft surfaces and piano black trim highlights. Toyota says that it will be both quieter and roomier than the outgoing model, with almost three inches added to the rear seating area. All models get eight standard airbags and Bluetooth connectivity. Optional features include touchscreen audio, push button start, a moon roof, and backup camera.
The Corolla is known for excellent fuel economy and reliability but with a boring style. The new model looks like it has the potential to compete with other stylish models like the Elantra.
