2012 Porsche Cayman R

I really like fast cars. I saw this on the web, 2012 Porsche Cayman R. The website said that it has a rigid suspension and excellent weight distribution that makes handling incredibly easy. The direct-injection engine is powerful and efficient, and Porsche's fast-shifting dual-clutch transmission is available as an option.

Remote-control dog, E-dogs

7 year-old Jack Russell terrier, Scamp, was hit by a car three years ago and lost all his legs. The owner, Anthony Smith from Nottingham, instead of having him put down as most owners would do had his beloved dog fitted with front and rear wheels, a powerful electric motor and a remote control.

Anthony said, ‘Scamp has never looked back since’, ‘but that’s because he can’t. You can see from the look in his eyes when I’m making him do J-turns, burn-outs and wheelies that he loves every moment of it. Admittedly he’s had problems getting on with other dogs and there’s been one or two drive-by shittings, but it’s all been worth it to be able to ‘walk’ him without leaving my chair by the window.’

However, scamp doesn’t enjoy the same freedom that he used to before his operation, ‘When we play fetch in the park he’s just like his old self. Of course, I have to throw the stick and then operate the remote control to get him close enough to pick it up, but he loves it and it’s much less boring for me. I’ve also set up an agility course for him – he can actually beat able-bodied dogs, even when he’s asleep,’ said Anthony.

Now because of this, Anthony has discovered a market for motorised animals and has gone into business. ‘Almost all pets are suitable for our high-speed mobility scheme, though I’ve given up working with fish,’ he said. ‘In fact I’ve just finished fitting an arthritic tortoise with the tracks from a Tamiya Tiger Tank. He’s surprisingly maneuverable. When we took him for a test drive over a see-saw, the little chap really came out of his shell, so I’ve put some glue in his leg holes to stop it happening again.’

Be that as it may, animal rights groups are horrified by the trend for e-dogs, claiming that some unscrupulous owners are modifying perfectly healthy pets for cosmetic reasons. ‘There’s no doubt the look of any animal can be improved by a set of off-road tyres and an aerial,’ said Anthony, ‘but this is about helping pets in their hour of need, and a brilliant new sport. We always promote safe and responsible driving, and that’s why we’re in favor of bringing back dog licenses.’

Mechanical Wonder From an Age Gone By

'BLACK BEAST' Howard Kroplick, in his 1909 Alco-6 Racer, wears racing goggles from the era.

Nicknamed “the Black Beast,” this was one of the most famous race cars of its era. A two-time winner of the Vanderbilt Cup, a major event in the early years of American motorsport, the car was the favorite to win the first Indianapolis 500-mile race in 1911. (It blew a rod, however, and finished 33rd in a field of 40.)

Oh man this sucks! Big time!

Just saw this email from towerhobbies that I've placed as spam. DOT wants to limit the RC hobby industry. I've already sent an email to DOT, I hope that it will help.

Dear Tower Hobbies Customer,

Many people are concerned with new government regulations that are designed to limit our hobby industry. You've probably heard about the new FAA regulations limiting our use of R/C airplanes and proposed shipping bans for R/C batteries.

New regulations are being considered regarding model rocket motors. This may not immediately impact your particular hobby but it's just another step toward regulation of materials used in hobbies and deserves your attention.

The US Department of Transportation (DOT) has recently advised that they propose to terminate a special permit under which model rocket motors and igniters have been shipped for the last 33 years. If the permit is terminated model rocket motors and igniters will no longer be able to be shipped as "Flammable Solids" and will instead have to be shipped as "Explosives."

In 33 years there have been no incidents involved in the shipping and transporting of model rocket motors and igniters.

Hobbyists need your support. Attached is a sample e-mail that we request you send immediately to express your support.

We believe that shipping model rocket motors and igniters as "Explosives" would only cause unnecessary concern for hobby shops, educators, youth group leaders and families using model rockets for educational and recreational purposes.

If you believe as we do, please send an e-mail to the Department of Transportation no later than October 10, 2011.

Trash converted to a cute Android robot

If you've always wanted that little Android icon on your phone to come to life, there's hope. Someone from Taiwan has built himself an Android robot--made from a painted garbage can.

Despite its trashy origins, the wheeled robot certainly looks adorable with its rotating arms and LED lights for eyes. All of these actions are controlled via an external remote control. There's even a little port at the back to charge the machine.

This little fella was built using Arduino, an open-source microcontroller board for developing interactive objects. The microcontroller takes commands from the remote control and sends them to the switches used to control the lights and motors of the robots.

RC Model Helicopter Caused a fire

Oops! We should always practice extreme caution when playing with our big toys it may cost us a lot if we are not careful!

PLACER COUNTY, CA - A fire that sent black plumes of smoke across the sky in Lincoln, Friday will continue to burn throughout the night, said Cal Fire spokesperson Daniel Berlant.

The fire is at Fiddyment Road and East Catlett Road, just west of Thunder Valley Casino.

Berlant said the fire started after a RC Model Helicopter crashed in the grass field.

The wildfire portion of the blaze was contained around 5:50 p.m. Friday. Crews worked to get a handle on a haystack, which burned into Saturday morning, Berlant said.

At 5:30 p.m. Friday, 14 fire engines were at the scene. Firefighters from CalFire, Placer County, Roseville and Rocklin battled the 80 acre blaze.

Remote-Control Helicopter Driven by iPhone

IRemoco is a remote-control toy helicopter that you drive with your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. The $100 kit contains the chopper itself, along with a dongle which plugs into the dock connector of your iDevice and sends your instructions to the helicopter. The project — currently seeking funding on Kickstarter — differs from other IR ‘copters in the way you control it. Amazing!

Extremely Fast RC

Check this out its insane! I hope my RC can be this fast!

Welcome to the world of RC!

What is RC?

A remote control vehicle is defined as any mobile device that is controlled by a means that does not restrict its motion with an origin external to the device. This is often a radio control device, cable between control and vehicle, or an infrared controller. A remote control vehicle or RCV differs from a robot in that the RCV is always controlled by a human and takes no positive action autonomously.

Small scale remote control vehicles have long been popular among hobbyists. These remote controlled vehicles span a wide range in terms of price and sophistication. There are many types of radio controlled vehicles. These include on-road cars, off-road trucks, boats, airplanes, and even helicopters.
